About 2019
If you googled me you might think I'm a former NASA test pilot. That's the other Bruce Peterson. I don't look like him, but it's kind of ironic that a notorious picture of "Bruce Peterson" is a guy with monocular vision, just like a camera. While perhaps lacking the exhilaration in flying military jets of my distinguished name sake, it's still a wonderful feeling to experience pictures that speak to me. Very satisfying when I make them.
It's possible that you've seen my work online, in magazines, billboards, packaging and maybe a trade show. My images have been recognized in mainstream commercial & industry-specific award shows and annuals, several times. They're also hanging on the walls in businesses and homes, occasionally in galleries.
I respond to shape, line and texture. Look for the light to have a physical presence in my photographs. I am impressed with detail, render it well, and believe it takes a sophisticated approach to reach a simple solution. Collaborative problem solving is one of the things that makes my job interesting and enjoyable. Humor helps. A lot really.
I was delighted to get this message from a former assistant who became a high school teacher: I keep sending my photo students to your site every year. One of them, a girl from China whose command of English is sometimes a little wobbly, recently said of your photos, "They don't praise beauty, they praise how light makes beauty.”
